If you’re an “independent contractor,” you won’t be sitting through job interviews. It sounds to me like you don’t understand what it means to be self-employed, which is extremely common in this industry. Independent contractors are freelancers. They are contracted to do a one-time job. I recommend you read this post. Then, read this one.

Your number one question to ask is: How will I be classified for tax purposes?

If the answer is anything other than, “W-2,” you need to leave.
